Miracle Baby

These last few days have been a whirl wind trying to get use to the schedule of having a new born in the house and spending our time falling more and more in love with our newest addition, Samuel.

Samuel was born on September 23, 2009 at 3:24pm and weighed 7lbs. 10.3oz and was 21 inches long. He was absolutely perfect but did make his way into the world with bells and whistles, emergency bells and whistles.

It seems that either on Sept 21 or 22 my water had broken and I hadn't noticed because Samuel was already far in position and blocking the flow of fluid. The only difference I felt was that I was having hard contractions but nothing that made me think I needed to head to the hospital.

On Sept 23rd I headed to my dr appointment and it was there my dr told me my water had broken and we were rushed over to Swedish to get pumped full of antibiotics because they weren't sure how long my water had been broken and were worried about infection setting in and harming the baby.

We got to the hospital around 10:30am and by noon they decided to start pitocin in order to get my contracts going faster so in infection was setting in that we would get the baby out sooner then later.

I had originally made the decision that I was going to have an all natural birth but around 3pm I had them calling in the anesthesiologist to get an epidural. The thing is that it had nothing to do with the pain, I was handling that fine and was already almost 6 cm dilated but for some reason I had a strong feeling that I needed to get an epidural and I am so grateful that I did because a few minutes after the epidural kicked in my nurse Bri had my dr in my room and there were people everywhere rushing me to the OR.

It seems that Samuel's heart rate had dropped dramatically and kept dropping so they had to get him out asap. The infection they had been worried about had already started setting in and Samuel was in distress and had pulled his legs up to his chest and in the process gotten wrapped around his umbilical cord cutting off the cord flow.

They ended up putting me completely under for the c-section and had I not had the epidural just before they stated there would not have been time to give me one which would have been a painful recovery for me. I thank God that he was watching over me and put into my heart to get the epidural.

Samuel was removed at 3:24pm and my husband was finally allowed to hold him and come into the operation room, during the whole c-section he was not allowed into the OR because they weren't sure what was happening with the baby. He still gets emotional thinking about it but tells me that the mot beautiful sound he has ever heard is that of our son screaming when he finally made his way into the world.

Samuel was in NICU for a few hours for fluid in the lungs and for monitoring but was given a clean bill of health and brought down to me when I finally started coming out of my medicated daze. All I remember is telling everyone "I can't focus" and thinking to myself "where is my baby." I know people were telling me that he was fine but I don't remember being able to process their words and was so terrified that my body went into shock and started shaking so hard I thought my teeth were going to break because of the chattering.

The second they finally brought Samuel down I was in awe all I could do is stare at him in wonder and thank God for his hand of protection on both of us.

Samuel's Room

Almost done with Samuel's room, hubby got it all painted and the furniture put together and it's finally looking put together.

Still have a few finishing touches here and there such as the constellation stars to put on the ceiling and a few minor details such as curtains ;)

However I of course opened my big mouth and told daddy that he could contribute to the room as well and of course he took me up on that and now Samuel has a very one of a kind room.

Yep... daddy is a Bruce Lee fan

HOTTTTTTT

I don't know how women do it living in areas that are hot all the time especially when pregnant. It's been in the 90's here in Washington and is suppose to climb higher the rest of the week and at 32 weeks I'm melting and panting and feelin like a hot mess.

It got to a point last night that I was so hot that I got out of bed sat outside on the lounge chair with the sprinklers on me :) The dogs and my husband got a kick out of that.

Our next baby we're getting AC even if we only use it for a week.

Double Bluff

We've been trying to get outside as much as possible with the dogs before the baby gets here because we are going to be doing a lot of nesting and cuddling once baby is finally here.

We headed to Whidbey Island and the off leash dog beach at Double Bluff such a beautiful day the dogs had so much fun and Stacy and I had a great time getting out and enjoying the beautiful Northwest sunshine.

Grumpy

I woke up very grumpy this morning and the main reason is because for the first time since I got pregnant I've got stretch marks!

I was so hoping I'd be one of those lucky mamas that didn't get any and I was lucky for awhile until I woke up this morning to get into the shower. It's as if all the stretch marks where waiting to arrive at once!

I've been using Mother's Special Blend Oil and have doubled up on it and am now thinking it's time to start using the Scargo Oil that's been waiting in reserve if these sneaky bastards showed up.

Here's to hoping that once our baby boy is here and I'm able to get back into shape that these stretch marks fade.

Names!

So we've finally figured out a name for baby boy.....

SAMUEL WILLIAM WEIGERT

I can't believe my husband finally okay'd a name he was so picky but than again his name is Stacy so I can see why he'd be worried about our boy's name.

Now by chance if our little buddle of joy ends up being a girl we've decided to name her Evelyn, Evie for short, can't agree on a middle name yet but I'm sure we've got lots of time because I don't see our current baby being a girl but maybe the next one.

Can you believe I'm already thinking about having more and I haven't even had this one yet :)
